Distributors work closely with us to develop their overall seafood offering in order to sell more products and gain better visibility on these products. Wholesalers work more closely with end customers (retailers, restaurants, etc.) to match their needs through buying products in bulk at a discount from us.

Fish Processors

Fish processors are attracted to Boston Bluefin for our strong ability to source the highest quality fish globally, allowing us to normally provide daily availability year-round. Our in-house processing skills allow us to provide whole fish (H&G), loins, fillets and specialty cuts to match the exact needs of any fish processor. And our daily shipping and access to trucking hubs and Boston Logan Airport can meet almost any time requirement and help processors minimize their inventory.

Grocery

We provide quality and well-priced fresh fish and processed crab products to small, local independent grocers, regional groups and large national chains on a daily basis. Communication begins with these customers even before fish arrive at our docks to review their needs together with what will be available and when – so that we can work with each retailers seafood department to maximize assortment, increase profitability and decrease shrink. We are highly recognized for our communication approach and high degree of service.

Restaurants

While many restaurants that receive our products, especially those that are outside our local/regional area, are served by distributors and wholesalers, many local restaurants and national chains with specific distribution points work with us directly. Our specialty cutting capabilities can provide them fresh, ready-to-prepare/cook steaks and fillets which h minimize labor and waste while maximizing quality. Our exceptionally high quality tuna allows us to have a large number of sushi restaurants as direct customers.

Fish Markets

While many fish markets that receive our products, especially those that are outside our local/regional area, are served by distributors and wholesalers, many local fish markets and larger national or regional companies work with us directly. For those that have their own cutting team, we are able to leverage our extensive sourcing skills to provide whole fish (H&G) and large loins on a daily basis. Our specialty cutting capabilities can provide them with any other cuts they require while helping them to minimize labor and waste while maximizing quality.

Local and regional fish markets pickup from us in Boston on a daily basis – sometimes multiple times a day. They know they can count on us for outstanding service and to go the extra mile to support them and their customers. This is especially true around holidays and during the very busy summer months when demand can create supply challenges.

Further Processors

Our history with New England Crab Company educated us on the opportunity that further processors can provide. Currently, we work with manufacturers of crab cakes, crab Rangoon, stuffed shells, soups and other specialty items that utilize Jonah and/or Red Crab meat as an ingredient

We are currently exploring how our fish products can be utilized in this large and growing further processor market as well.

Food Brokers

Food brokers, especially ones that have been in the seafood business for a long time, have developed a network of end customers that they can leverage in helping processors to build their business and brand. While not using brokers at the present time, we see this as an important vehicle for growing the business, especially within the grocery and food service segments.
